Queer as Folk writer Russell T Davies has been commissioned by the BBC to write an “adult”, post-watershed spin-off of Dr Who, according to press reports.
The show, titled Torchwood, will also feature gay actor John Barrowman reprising his role as bisexual captain Jack Harness and is set to feature on BBC3 next year.
“You look at what [T Davies} has done with Dr Who and we said to him, what would you do with a post-watershed sci-fi?” Murphy told the Independent today.
He added the series will also be a departure from the family friendly original series, feature sex and swearing, although it will be done in a “funny and sexy way”.
