"I can still get my legs and bum into my size zero jeans but I’ll be doing my DVD workout and juicing regime to get back in shape after the birth.

"I don’t know the sex of my baby, I want it to be a surprise. But it would be nice to have a girl because I live in a very masculine household."

She says: "When I was pregnant with Junior my sex life was non-existent because I was depressed. I still take anti-depressants but am weaning myself off them and will be clear by the time our baby is born.

"I’m taking eight weeks off work - the longest in my life - and because I’m a naturally stressy person I’ve learned relaxation techniques.

All three ITV fly-on-the-wall series following Katie and 34-year-old Peter’s life have been bought by America’s E! Entertainment, which broadcasts to 600million homes. And they have recently signed a new two-year golden handcuffs deal with ITV.

Filming was thrown into chaos last New Year’s Eve when Katie’s disabled son, Harvey, climbed into a bath, turned on the hot tap and badly scalded his leg.

The youngster, who is partially blind and has a growth disorder, spent three weeks in hospital. Katie was not allowed to stay with him all the time because of fears she could pick up an infection that might harm her unborn baby. But Peter maintained a 24-hour-vigil at the lad’s side.

"But we’d signed a contract with ITV and didn’t want to let them down. It was a very rough time. We were knackered and worried sick about Harvey.

"Harvey needs four lots of medicine in the morning, three in the afternoon and another four at night, which includes an injection which Pete or I give him.

"Junior is a mini Pete - he loves to show off to the camera. I love them both to bits, even though I still feel guilty about the early days after I gave birth to Junior and couldn’t bond with him because of depression."

A second sexy novel, a follow-up to best seller Angel, a series of children’s pony books, the launch of a new lingerie and swimwear range for George at Asda and an ITV chat show with Peter are all in the offing, as well as their new reality documentary series.

Katie says: "I’m a workaholic and I love what I do. Pete and I have never been happier. We do find time to relax - we’re both taking helicopter lessons.

"We’re also planning to renew our vows next year and thinking about my 30th birthday party in May 2008. It’s definitely going to be a big one."
